Wow!!! This one was epic! I really enjoyed the story。 El still makes me laugh with her attitude。 I really like the fact she was overpower in this one, and also the fact that Orion is kind of dumb and really far from the classical love interest in YA novel。If I have something to critize is that this book feels like there is only one character。 El is the protagonist and the rest are just basic accessories of the story, even Orion。 We don't get to know them really and its difficult to connect with Wow!!! Never have I adored being this frustrated。 I absolutely love El。 Her stubbornness, her mistrust, and how she remains tenacious even against what she knows is smart vs right。I was curious how this would work out with a major pacing shift for a few weeks to severely months, but Naomi managed to ratchet the stakes in everflowing arcs。I love seeing her being recognized as the hero nobody expected, and paired with Orion see two different versions of a hero's journey (。。。 or maybe a villainous one?)。 Never have I adored being this frustrated。 I absolutely love El。 Her stubbornness, her mistrust, and how she remains tenacious even against what she knows is smart vs right。I was curious how this would work out with a major pacing shift for a few weeks to severely months, but Naomi managed to ratchet the stakes in everflowing arcs。I love seeing her being recognized as the hero nobody expected, and paired with Orion see two different versions of a hero's journey (。。。 or maybe a villainous one?)。 The moments they kickass together are great。 Though whats even better is the crew El rallys together, often despite herself。 I adore Aadhya。Yes, there are long-winded "explainations" about the school。。。 but I didn't care。 We are so deep in El's head, which I love, we just want to continue to take in as much of the journey as possible。Though I did not realize this was a trilogy until the last page。 。。。more

It's a 3。5 I just can't cope with the half a page sentences。 Just a preference, not a criticism。 This series is fine but feels less solid and engaging than the standalone fables。 It's a 3。5 I just can't cope with the half a page sentences。 Just a preference, not a criticism。 This series is fine but feels less solid and engaging than the standalone fables。 。。。more

couldn't tell you what this book is about for the life of me but i love it so much。 i relate so hard to the main character and her unending internal existential-crisis monologues。 so nostalgic in so many ways。 what i don't love? cliffhangers。 couldn't tell you what this book is about for the life of me but i love it so much。 i relate so hard to the main character and her unending internal existential-crisis monologues。 so nostalgic in so many ways。 what i don't love? cliffhangers。 。。。more

3。5 stars。 The pace is way uneven and there's not enough new settings or characters introduced to distinguish from the previous novel。 At least the action picks up at the end。 3。5 stars。 The pace is way uneven and there's not enough new settings or characters introduced to distinguish from the previous novel。 At least the action picks up at the end。 。。。more

First of all, I loved this book。 I read book 1 and 2 back to back and it got me out of a big reading slump! The main character El is just the most badass, sarcastatic, loyal friend and her relationships with her friends and Orion are just so precious。 The writing and pacing is perfect (at least for me who struggled with a big reading slump) and the setting is unique and intriguing enough to not feel like a Harry Potter knock-off。 The ending was (view spoiler)[ heart-breaking - even though I knew First of all, I loved this book。 I read book 1 and 2 back to back and it got me out of a big reading slump! millegipärast läks see sari mu jaoks tõeliselt käima hetkel, kui ma millalgi siin teise osa alguse poole otsustasin, et El ei ole usaldusväärne jutustaja。 see aitas teismelise draamatsemise kõrvale jätta ja lugu nautida ja püüda sealt serva tagant piiluda, et milline siis El ise tegelikult oli ja milline Orion ja eks need teised ka seal。esimesel raamatul polnud ka viga, hea maailm ehitati üles ja mu ootused olidki üsna kõrged, aga tore oli, kuidas teises ei toimunud äravajumist, et "ah, teeme ve millegipärast läks see sari mu jaoks tõeliselt käima hetkel, kui ma millalgi siin teise osa alguse poole otsustasin, et El ei ole usaldusväärne jutustaja。 see aitas teismelise draamatsemise kõrvale jätta ja lugu nautida ja püüda sealt serva tagant piiluda, et milline siis El ise tegelikult oli ja milline Orion ja eks need teised ka seal。esimesel raamatul polnud ka viga, hea maailm ehitati üles ja mu ootused olidki üsna kõrged, aga tore oli, kuidas teises ei toimunud äravajumist, et "ah, teeme veel ühe samasuguse õppeaasta samas internaatkoolis ja siis vaatame"。 täitsa oma lugu läks käima ja veeres üsna ootamatusse suunda - kui esimeses raamatus sai just parajasti selgeks, kuidas Scholomance töötab, millised on reeglid ja millised tavad, siis nüüd muudeti kõik reeglid järgemööda ära ja eks tekkis küsimusi, kas nad algusest peale üldse olemaski olid。lisandus uusi tegelasi, Liesel kindlasti mu lemmik nende hulgas (valjuhäälne klassi priimus, kes on - vähemalt Eli väitel - väga ärritav, aga teda ei saa kambast välja ka jätta, sest tal on, pagan võtaks, kogu aeg õigus)。 lisandus lõpuklassi treenimiseks mõeldud takistusrada, mis, tõmmates paralleeli teise tuntud võlukunstikooliraamatuga, oli enamvähem nagu Kolmevõluri turniir, mis kestab kuus kuud järjest ja kus peavad osalema kõik õpilased。 iga päev。lõpp läks väga pinevaks ja kui viimasel leheküljel tuli see cliffhanger, mille eest kõik eelmised lugejad hoiatanud on, siis minu jaoks oli see pigem kergendus, et nüüd saab vahepeal hinge tõmmata järgmist osa oodates。 ses mõttes, et muidugi lõppes põneva ja jubeda koha peal, aga mis te siis lootsite - et kõik jõuavad koju emme juurde, abielluvad oma keskkoolisilmarõõmudega ja elavad õnnelikult, kui nad veel ära pole surnud? eei, see pole seda tüüpi lugu。 siin ei ole kohta liigutavale epiloogile sellest, kuidas tegelased 20 aastat hiljem oma lapsi samasse kooli saadavad。。。 。。。more

This book wasn't as good as the first one for me。 I would give it more like 3。5。 I felt like it repeated a LOT of the information from the first book and honestly this felt like it was dragged out into a 3 book series when it would have been better as 2 books。 The entire first half of this book really dragged for me。 And I felt like most of the 'twists' were kind of anti climactic and bit predictable。 This book wasn't as good as the first one for me。 I would give it more like 3。5。 I felt like it repeated a LOT of the information from the first book and honestly this felt like it was dragged out into a 3 book series when it would have been better as 2 books。 The entire first half of this book really dragged for me。 And I felt like most of the 'twists' were kind of anti climactic and bit predictable。 。。。more

。。。more

If I could give it a 1 star for that ending, I would! What the actual F!?!? And we STILL don't know why El's mom gave her that ominous warning at the end of the first book。 I mean, really。。。 what the actual! I still find El abrasive to the point where it's uncomfortable at times, but the circle of friends she's finally managed to snag has humanized her despite the fact that the girl's a time bomb。 Ugh。 And now, to wait for the next installment。 If I could give it a 1 star for that ending, I would!
